waiting?

Alone again, naturally.

The first time I heard of this is from my friend Tots.

Spending alonetime has been second-nature to me now... Hahahaha

growing pains

Darnit, these days I feel more and more old! No, this is not a whine of a person nearing her birthday (my birthday is months and months away) but a hard reality kick in the butt.

Back in the day I can function with little sleep now, no more.

When I was in lawschool, I'd sleep around 8-9pm and wake up around 12am to study. I find that there are little distractions (tv, internet, people) in the wee hours of the morning and so thats the time I do my "serious" studying. Then by 5am I'll take a nap, wake up at 6 or 7 am then off to school. There was even a time in college when I was (and yes I was counting!) 36 hours. I think thats when we're doing our thesis! But now, I cannot do that anymore.

Having been sleep deprive for last decade or so has finally takeb its toll on me!

Just this morning, I slept at past 12am. It wasnt a deep sleep even, then by 2am I woke up with a suddern urge to phrase a certain document I was working on and then couldnt go back to sleep. It was already 3:30am when I got to nap then alam went off at 4:30am. I snoozed it and was up by 5am.

Then now the result of little/lack of sleep (plus stress, which is an occupational hazard), I am red all over. Literally!

I'm having a bad case of skin asthma!

I guess all thr stress, lack of sleep over fatigue and other abuse I did to my poor body is finally catching up on me.

Darn!

I have skin asthma and other ultr sensitive skin conditions (that my friend even said that I should live in a bubble!). When stressed, sleep deprived and even the littlest allergens could trigger it bad. Worse case scenario aggravate what I already have :(

Haaaaay I am really not what I used to. I am really getting older and my body weaker. :(

Meanwhile, all these "OLD" talks made me wonder what I look like when I get older (and hopefully more wiser! Hehe) I tinker the apple app store and saw the Oldify app...

Here's what I will probably look like 40 years from now hahaha

I look sad.... I dont like the older me! hahahaha

Sad realization,

random thought #1

How can I change what is in my nature? If its natural for me to care, how can I stop myself not to.

The thing is I am known to be kind. No bragging included just being truthful. But the downside is, kindness is often abused.

MY being "kind" often leads to my own problems. I am often taken advantage of.

How can I say no without sounding too self-centered?

If I say no, people would readily assume that I am being selfish... But I'm not... But I, too, have my own set of things to do... and other priorities.

book-addict

I need a bookshelf....as in seriously! :)

Hello, I'm prettytwistedchick and I'm a book/reading-addict, nope not just a bookworm, an BOOK addict.

I remember my love for reading started when a godfather (NOT the mafia kind) of mine gave me 5 hardbound fairytale books for christmas. If I remember it correctly those were Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Jack and the Beanstalk, Pinocchio and Little Match Girl... and I was around 5 or 6 years old that time. For the life of me, I found the story of the Little Match Girl utterly depressing!

Then I started buying books on my own around 3rd grade. I started with the typical Sweet Dreams (which was soooo in that time) then Sweet Valley, Lovestories and now my collection varies.

I prefer fiction as I am already bombarded with facts and laws during lawschool and now at work. Fiction novels are great. They were able to transport me to a different time, different place, different culture and ethnicities. It evokes different emotions in me--love, anguish, despair, happiness, sadness, eagerness and much more. The things that a good book do to me is akin to what traveling does to me. Haaaay traveling, that is another blog article and still includes a book somewhere.

I literally forget where I am, who I am, what I'm going to do and whats happening around me. I forget my problems, issues and alike. Its just me, my book and whatever era the book was written in.

Just this Friday I started reading a book. I got curious about it since atleast 4 of my facebook friends have mentioned about it in their tweets/status. So I went to the nearest bookstore to hunt it down. I went to 4 bookstores and I couldnt find a copy of the book. On my last bookstore i found the last copy of books 2 and 3, but not the first one. You see its a trilogy but since I was anxious to get my hands on it, I bought them. Still i couldnt find Book1. So as for my last resort, I downloaded the ebook version of Book1. I hate reading ebooks...it gives me headaches. Im a traditional kind of gal and prefers the hardbound version, if not paperback. :)

So I started reading the ebook (book1) last Friday. When Saturday came I had a massive headache. But that didnt stop me from reading. What is headache that an advil cant cure? Haha

I forgot all about my errands, my grocery-shopping scheduled in the morning, lunch at 12nn, dentist at 2pm and gym at 4pm. I resched grocery for another weekend or afterwork perhaps (my sched is pliant as of the moment). My dentist appointment was resched on another day, the only thing I didnt resched was gym... But then I was 2hours late haha. I guess going healthy is still somewhere at the top of my list. (part of my 31st-year-going-healthy-for-a-change resolution)

I'm on Book 2 now and so glad that I'm reading from a paperback. While having a breakfast my mom saw me reading and she said... "you are so like you dad...always with a book in tow" She even said that I forgot a book in the bathroom the other day. I tell you if there's a waterproof book I'd buy it because I like reading while bathing.

My mom noticed that I always have a book or two with me. If yo open my bag you'll see them in there somewhere.

Plus I find men who read, utterly and devastatingly sexy. Weird huh?!?

reading is love!!!

Oh well... On to book2. I hope I'll be able to hit the gym again later! :)

Just sharing...

red day!

I like the color red.

Definitely my current favorite!

It started with my nail polish... I always opt for red nail polish  (or a tan one) since it makes my hands...and feet whiter hahahaha)

When I was strolling along SM...I saw this... Orly "Soulmate"... I jokingly said that I just wish that when I use this nail polish, I will be able to conjure my "Soulmate" hahaha

my lovely nails---LOVELY?!? nyahaha

project bag'it!

I have a sort of photo/blog "project" (naks!)

I'm always curious as to what's inside people's bags. My cousins could attest to this because sometimes I will just pick up their bags and take a peep at what they carry inside. I try to limit this kind of scenarios only with my cousins since some of my friends may have privacy issues. hehehe

However, before I embark this project of mine, I find it fair (and equitable--haha) for me to show what's in MY bag. (note: I don't have a medium-sized bag. Its either ultra-big-bags and ultra-small ones...---somehow with big bags I always end up carrying A LOT of things; )

So for today here's whats in my (BIG) bag:

it doesn't always look this organized...because I do the digging to fish my stuff! :)

DEFENSE: I can't help it I'm a girl! *excuses, excuses*

What I love about my bag is that it holds a LOT of treasure! Special thanks and shoutout to my dear cousin Thinafot, who shipped this bag all the way from Germany to Philippines as my Christmas gift! :)

The following are the things I love, stand-outs and carry around (most of the time!):

1.) My iPhone and its BookBook case by Twelve South. I love it because its a wallet and case all-in-one! I don't usually hang onto my slightly-bulky wallet whenever I leave. (although I do carry my wallet, case in point: above pic. (can you see it?)

Its more convenient this way...phone, money and cards :) Plus it gives you the illusion not of a phone case but of a small book...I LOVE IT! Bonus is the smell of pure leather!

A book turned bill/cardholder and a phone case. What more can you ask for?

2.) My notebook. Just because I like to write down my thoughts and learnings. I cover this myself---isnt lovely?!

front and back cover :)

3.) My books. I love to read and I am a voracious reader. Its lent so my current reading is Have a Little Faith by Mitch Albom (I love him and I have read all his books--so far!). Another current (re-) reading is the 1997 Rules of Courts. I've read this (and know this by heart) in law school but its always good to do some re-reading :)

In short, I cannot NOT have a book with me---at all times!!

As once said by a journalist... "Date a girl who reads..." *wink wink* hahahahahahaha

4.) Eyeshadow. I don't really do make-up but I'm currently fascinated with eyeshadows. If you somehow see me and I looked as if I have a shiner or I just stepped out of a boxing match, it only means that I haven't mastered the art of eyeshadow! hehehe I am so jealous at women who are experts at putting their own makeup...because I don't know how! hehehe

I go for the barely-there make-up...or at least I think thats what I try to do! hehehe

5.) Dental Floss. I am addicted to flossing these days. Yep, you heard it right. Growing up nobody told me that apart from brushing I should also floss... Now it seems like I'm making up for the lost time! hahaha That's how love to floss. Gotta take care of our "pearly-whites".

Minty floss!

6.) Eyeliner. Same explanation as the Eyeshadow. I love this Maybelline Gel Eyeliner, its so easy to use :)

7.) Eyeglasses or contact lens. My love for reading has its set-backs. I now have to use glasses or contact lens. :) These are my new spectacles...and I cannot really rely on contacts alone.

I can now have an HD-view of the world because this! :)

8.) Rosary. I got this during my 4th year in high school and I haven't parted with it since! I consider this as my armor, my guide, and my good luck charm. I never leave the house without it.

Its a colorful life! Thank you Lord. :)

That's it! So on to the next-bag! :)

Oatmeal

I'm on a healthy-living-mode this past few days and so far, so good. (plus I'm liking this whole mobile blogging thing, that makes me do this right now--after a long hiatus)

I never like oatmeal. The gooey-ness is not to my liking. Ulk!

But the path to a healthier living must start somewhere, right? So here I go! Haha

friday madness

I was reading a certain blog during my lunchbreak (yes, I decided to skip lunch--just because I can! haha), and I came across this entry where the blogger wrote a letter to his future girlfriend. So I decided to make one for myself (yes, gaya gaya ako...haha) so here goes my ïmpromptu letter to my future significant other:

Dear Future Boyfriend (and hopefully Husband)
(I know...pressure, right?!?hahaha)

I don't really know when you'll arrive. Or if you're already here. But I believe that in the Lord's perfect time our paths will cross. (Just give me a little nudge, will you...if you're already here... I tend to be dense at times and a little preoccupied with a lot of things, I might not recognize you even if you're right in front of me).  I'm hoping you'll ease away all my worries and prove that all my fears were wrong. I want you to know that it has been quite a rollercoaster "journey"getting to you but I never lost hope.

And now that you're here, I look forward to God's plan for us and I'm happy to share so many (upcoming) adventures with you. Don't be afraid, I don't expect perfection for I am not perfect as well. But what I expect from you is that you will cherish every moment we spend with other.

I'm happy you are here now. I hope to have met (and surpassed) all of your expectations of me haha.

Love,
Your prettytwisted FUTURE girlfriend

weddings...

I really love weddings.

It always has this whimsical feel.

The promise (and hope) of the ever-after is evident in the eyes of the newly-weds.

Love overflows the occasion.

Happiness fills the air.

Durings weddings, it is the love of two individuals that is being celebrated.

The future is being looked forward to.

The promise of greeting every morning with your soulmate by your side. And the  assurance that you will end your day with your bestfriend to wipe away all the stress the day has brought.

It is also during weddings that singles (like me haha) are reminded of the Lord's perfect plan for us.

Imagine how the universe conspire to let two souls meet and fall in love and then spend the rest of their loves together.

Imagine how their lives were before they met. And then imagine how they cannot picture their lives...their future will be without each other.

Ang sarap ma-inlove! haha

I went to one of my barkada's wedding in December 2011 and it was by far the best after party I have ever attended... when most of the guests were gone and only the immediate family and close friends were remaining and we had the mic and the guitarist (who knew all the chords to any song!) all to ourselves!

Here are some of the pics during the wedding. (Herein pics were either from my own camera, or the couple's photographer, or one of my friend's)..

everyone that matters is present!

In fairness to our make up artists, they were amazing in taking our pictures! As if shots by professionals!

And our adorable Bible bearer...
