I need a bookshelf....as in seriously! :) |
Hello, I'm prettytwistedchick and I'm a book/reading-addict, nope not just a bookworm, an BOOK addict.
I remember my love for reading started when a godfather (NOT the mafia kind) of mine gave me 5 hardbound fairytale books for christmas. If I remember it correctly those were Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Jack and the Beanstalk, Pinocchio and Little Match Girl... and I was around 5 or 6 years old that time. For the life of me, I found the story of the Little Match Girl utterly depressing!
Then I started buying books on my own around 3rd grade. I started with the typical Sweet Dreams (which was soooo in that time) then Sweet Valley, Lovestories and now my collection varies.
I prefer fiction as I am already bombarded with facts and laws during lawschool and now at work. Fiction novels are great. They were able to transport me to a different time, different place, different culture and ethnicities. It evokes different emotions in me--love, anguish, despair, happiness, sadness, eagerness and much more. The things that a good book do to me is akin to what traveling does to me. Haaaay traveling, that is another blog article and still includes a book somewhere.
I literally forget where I am, who I am, what I'm going to do and whats happening around me. I forget my problems, issues and alike. Its just me, my book and whatever era the book was written in.
Just this Friday I started reading a book. I got curious about it since atleast 4 of my facebook friends have mentioned about it in their tweets/status. So I went to the nearest bookstore to hunt it down. I went to 4 bookstores and I couldnt find a copy of the book. On my last bookstore i found the last copy of books 2 and 3, but not the first one. You see its a trilogy but since I was anxious to get my hands on it, I bought them. Still i couldnt find Book1. So as for my last resort, I downloaded the ebook version of Book1. I hate reading ebooks...it gives me headaches. Im a traditional kind of gal and prefers the hardbound version, if not paperback. :)
So I started reading the ebook (book1) last Friday. When Saturday came I had a massive headache. But that didnt stop me from reading. What is headache that an advil cant cure? Haha
I forgot all about my errands, my grocery-shopping scheduled in the morning, lunch at 12nn, dentist at 2pm and gym at 4pm. I resched grocery for another weekend or afterwork perhaps (my sched is pliant as of the moment). My dentist appointment was resched on another day, the only thing I didnt resched was gym... But then I was 2hours late haha. I guess going healthy is still somewhere at the top of my list. (part of my 31st-year-going-healthy-for-a-change resolution)
I'm on Book 2 now and so glad that I'm reading from a paperback. While having a breakfast my mom saw me reading and she said... "you are so like you dad...always with a book in tow" She even said that I forgot a book in the bathroom the other day. I tell you if there's a waterproof book I'd buy it because I like reading while bathing.
My mom noticed that I always have a book or two with me. If yo open my bag you'll see them in there somewhere.
Plus I find men who read, utterly and devastatingly sexy. Weird huh?!?
reading is love!!! |
Oh well... On to book2. I hope I'll be able to hit the gym again later! :)
Just sharing...
