Today is the last day of my 31st year on Earth...and the small fact that my age can still be found in the calendar.

On the bright side, tomorrow, my age is still found in LOTTO! DEYM! hahahaha

Christmas in a cup :D

One of the things that remind me of the coming Christmas season is when Starbucks starts offering coffee on red cups rather than their ordinary white cups.

Also its the start of collecting a certain no. of stickers to be able to get the Starbucks planner. It has been a tradition of mine (since it started 5 or 6 years ago) to get that coveted planner.

Now, I'm not quite sure.

I barely touched the planner I have this year coz I have my own calendar for office, and a sort of journal at home.

So we'll see how I fare with this sticker thing. I might send it as a gift if all else fail.

Grabe, its almost Christmas! I havent done any shopping yet! Goodluck to me. Hehehe

SG Day 3: The third and final installment of my happy travel with happy friends earlier this year. :)


We decided to ride those double-decker buses and explore. Its our last day so we tried to do everything all at once haha

We ate lunch first in one of the malls and these are what we ordered. Unlike here, beverages are sold separately in SG. There are stalls specifically for drinks alone and if you're in a food court there are ladies strolling by with carts that sell various drinks!

Then we walk around and see the stores. We even went to H&M shop and told Tots and Kee to shop around, while Posh and I sneaked out and went inside the Abercrombie shop. We even had our photo taken with one of the Abercrombie guys...hee hee hee

Then we head to Lucky Plaza and had a coffee. It was Sunday and the place was packed...mostly with Filipinos. Crazy!

It was bitter-sweet to say goodbye. Leaving a friend behind and going back to your old life. Haaaay

The Black Beauties

Fourteen going on fifteen years of friendships, that's what we have. We started during our junior year in high school and until now that we are career-women (for the most part hehehe) we've manage to nurture our friendship, we've become each other's best of friends—more like soul sisters.

We call ourselves The Black Beauties (BBs, for short). How we came up with that name was already been forgotten. We all have different versions of it. My version is… my earliest recollection when we started to call ourselves as The Black Beauties was when we had an overnight at Lia's place during high school because we did our group term paper at her house. In the morning, while we were having breakfast, Lia and Kim were watching this program black beauty (the story about a black horse) and both of them were in akimbo while muttering (in almost the same intonation and almost at the same time) "black beauty". We all laugh and that’s how it all started. That's the version I have.

Later on we went to different universities but our friendship remained intact.

Distance has never been a problem with us—us having Manila Chapter and US Chapter (for the two changs—yes we call each other changs—who decided to settle abroad). The cyberspace has become a perfect place for us to get an update regarding one another… is started with (now defunct) friendster, then came the multiply site, now facebook, twitter, skype and ym.

Christmas get-together has been sort of a tradition to us. We always allot one weekend for us to meet and greet each other, exchange gifts… especially now that we have little nathan (the fist Black Beauty baby...Christmas is special to us).

For this year, we've decided to meet for lunch on the 2nd of January 2011. Just because that's the only "free" day for ALL of us... we wait in line at Kanin Club at UP Technohub. That was the first time I ate there. At first i thought, "What the heck?!? Why are we waiting in line (i think we were 7th or 8th group in waiting). Why not go to other restaurant? (i must say that good dining place at UP technohub is few!). But Faith swears by the "aligue" rice ( alige= crab fat).

We ordered aligue rice, tinapa rice (smoked fish), crispy dinuguan (pork blood stew), sinigang na baboy, crispy liempo, laing, the rest I have forgotten. (We ordered a lot!hehehe):D

We are stuffed! the food here is great! no wonder there's a loooooong waiting line outside. worth the trip, worth the wait, worth every penny! :D

We had our typical exchange gifts at Starbucks but we also bought some pastries at Coffeebean (we have no brand loyalty hehehehe). Talks about our lives—present and future was aplenty!

STRESS-BUSTER

back-to-back-to-back deadlines, weekly family bonding, friends get-togs (this is how we shortened get-together), lovelife (if there's any nearby haha), keeping abreast with my studies (if I ever intend to do any--or find the time to squeeze this in--and continue what i have started in the first place) and ME-time...

..add these all up and the sum will be a HUUUUUUUGE STRESS!

a manifestation would be eyebags, pimples and for me,reddish-all-over-body-signs of allergy! (which i hate!)

i knew i would be having a hectic week ahead with two deadlines (make it three by wednesday!) at the end of the week which i intend to finish before submission date (give or take a day or two).

thus, as part of the "battle-preparation" i fueled myself every morning with these energy boosters!

for monday morning, i bought Starbuck's hot cafe mocha--VENTI!

for tuesday morning, i had KrispyKreme's hot mocha--LARGE!

its nighttime now and i can still feel the caffeine running through my veins!

UPDATE:day three: another deadline was set especially for today...opted for a different kind of caffeine-fix...cola! although i did had a coffee (made by me) early in the morning plus plenty of water!!!
